About Me
Welcome to Eastern Shore Counseling – I'm Monica.
Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, I’ve lived in Mobile, Alabama, and the Eastern Shore since 1995, where my husband and I have been lucky to raise our five children. I enjoy running, cooking, and reading, and I relish a good excuse to entertain!
My fascination with psychology and human development led me to study English literature and sociology at Newcomb College at Tulane University. After raising five children, I returned to school as a non-traditional student at the University of South Alabama where I earned my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. And now, with an empty nest approaching, I am embarking on a career as a counselor – in gratitude to pay forward all the gifts I and my family have received from the process.
I passionately believe in the value of therapy from my own experience. Counseling has helped me many times on my life’s journey – to be a stronger parent, to be better able to support my family, and to discover inclinations and fortitude within myself.

My goal as your counselor is to be approachable, supportive & clarifying.
Human experiences such as suffering, uncertainty, isolation, and questions of purpose are universal, and while they can be deeply distressing, they can also invite greater self-awareness, resilience, and authenticity.
I work collaboratively with my clients – honoring their values, beliefs, and personal frameworks for understanding life. I do not impose a particular worldview; rather, I support individuals in clarifying what gives their lives meaning, direction, and depth whether that understanding is philosophical, spiritual, religious, or personal.
